Rev. Fr. Prince Mannathoor, the Malankara Jacobite Syrian Orthodox European Diocesan priest, Vicar of Zurich, Basel (Switzerland), Rome (Italy), Florence (Italy) and Amsterdam (Netherlands) Churches, got Ph. D. in Church History from Pontifical Oriental University on 13th June 2012. Rev. Fr. Dr. Prince Mannathoor is the first person who did Ph. D. in Malankara Church History in the Universal Syriac Orthodox Church. He did Ph. D. under the guidance of V. Rev. Dr. Philip Luiser who is a famous scholar as well as an official authority of Church history department of Roman Catholic Church in Vatican.
Pontifical Oriental University is one of the famous Catholic universities in the world. Majority of the Metropolitans of the Syro Malabar and Syro Malankara Churches studied in this well known University. H.H. Bartholomew I of Constantinople (Ecumenical Patriarch), Mor Gregorious Yuhanna Ibrahim (Syriac Orthodox Church), Dr. Mathews Mar Severius, Dr. Yuhanon Mar Dioscoros (Indian Orthodox Church Methran Kakshi) are the former students of this University.
After completing B. D. Course Fr. Prince joined this university for M. Th. in 2007. In 2009 he passed out with 2nd Rank in M. Th. (Theology). Moreover he studied Italian Language from Roundine Cultural Institute, Florence and also studied German Language from Pontifical Damasceno College. In 2009 he joined Pontifical Anselmo Liturgical University and got Diploma in West Syrian Liturgy .
Rev. Fr. Dr. Prince started a lot of Jacobite Syrian congregations in various places of the Europe. He is an emerging personality in the field of Church History who is having potential knowledge about oriental churches. He is a gift orator frequently getting international acclaim. He published 7 books and a series of articles in various languages (Italian, English and Malayalam).
