The 1st Anniversary of the elevation of St. George Universal Syrian Orthodox Reesh Church (Valiyapally) as Reesh Church (Major Church) has been celebrated along with Holy Qurbana on Friday, December 9, 2011 at the National Evangelical Church of Kuwait (NECK), Kuwait City. Former Patriarchal Vicar for Kuwait, and the Metropolitan of the Kollam Diocese, H.G. Mathews Mor Theodocius was the Chief Celebrant. Parish Vicar Rev. Fr. Sajan T. John also spoke on this occasion.

St. George Universal Syrian Orthodox Reesh Church was elevated as Reesh Church (Valiya Pally) on December 3, 2010 by the Patriarch of Antioch, H.H. Ignatius Zakka Ist Iwas during the tenure of H.G. Mathews Mor Theodocius as the Patriarchal Vicar of Kuwait.

St. George Reesh Church is one of the biggest parishes of the Malankara Jacobite Syrian Orthodox Church in the Middle East with more than 2000 individual members.
