Catholicos of the Syriac Orthodox Churches in India and Metropolitan Trustee of Jacobite Syrian Christian Churches, His Beatitude Aboon Mor Baselios Thomas I, will be blessing the Syrian Orthodox Community in Kuwait. His Beatitude is visiting Kuwait on his way to Syria to lead the Enthronement ceremony of H.H. Moran Mor Ignatius Aphrem II as Patriarch of Antioch and all the East, Supreme head of the Universal Syriac Orthodox Church, the 123rd successor of St. Peter on the Apostolic throne in Antioch. Earlier on 31st March 2014, H.E. Cyril Mor Aphrem, the then Metropolitan Archbishop of the Eastern United States, was elected as the Patriarch in a Holy Synod presided by His Beatitude. This would be the second Patriarchal enthronement ceremony that is led by an Indian. The ceremony will be held on 29th May 2014, on the Day of Ascension, at St. Peter & St. Paul Cathedral, Maarat Saydnaya, Syria.
His Beatitude will be in Kuwait for 3 days from 22nd May and will be celebrating Holy Qurbana on Thursday 22nd May at St. Mary’s Jacobite Syrian Church, Kuwait and on 23rd May, Friday at St. Paul’s Anglican Church, Ahmadi. His Beatitude last visited Kuwait in Sep 2012 during the apostolic visit of Late Lamented His Holiness Moran Mor Ignatius Zakka I Iwas, former Patriarch of the Universal Syriac Orthodox Churches.
