Funeral of His Eminence Mor Severius Ishak Zakka will be at Mor Mathai Dayaro, Mosul, Iraq.

His Holiness Patriarch Moran Mor Ignatius Zakka I Iwas, through HH’s Bull informed that, His Eminence Mor Severius Ishak Zakka (80), the Metropolitan for St. Aphrem Seminary and In Charge for the Higher Studies & Research in Syriac and Former Metropolitan (Dayaroyo) for Mor Mathai Dayaro, Mosul, Iraq, passed away at a hospital in Bhkkadidha, Qarakhosh on Monday December 19th, 2011. His Eminence was admitted to the hospital due to prolonged illness. His Holiness Patriarch led the special prayer which was held at Patriarchal Monastery here. Metropolitans Mor Philoxenos Matthiyas, Mor Dionysius Yuhanon, Very Rev. Rabban Mathews Karimpanakkal (Hon. Secretary to His Holiness for Indian Affairs), priests, nuns participated.

Mor Coorilos Geevarghese, Metropolitan of Niranam Diocese attended a Preparatory Meeting on New Financial and Economic Architecture, jointly organized by the World Council of Churches (WCC), the Council for World Mission (CWM) and the World Communion of Reformed Churches (WCRC).

The International Review of Mission marked a century of work in mission studies with a public celebration, held 9 December at Philip Potter Library of the World Council of Churches (WCC), centered on its centenary issue, just released.

Mor Basil School under the management of Marthoman JSO Cheriyapally Kothamangalam emerged as “Overall Champions” in the Kerala State School meet with 150 Points. H.B Catholicose Baselious Thomas 1st congratulated the participants from Mor Basil School for their efforts in this victory.

Mor Ignatius Jacobite Syrian Orthodox Cathedral Dubai participated in Chimes of Peace 2011, the largest ecumenical Carol singing in United Arab Emirates organized by YMCA Dubai.

The 1st Anniversary of the elevation of St. George Universal Syrian Orthodox Reesh Church (Valiyapally) as Reesh Church (Major Church) has been celebrated along with Holy Qurbana on Friday, December 9, 2011 at the National Evangelical Church of Kuwait (NECK), Kuwait City. Former Patriarchal Vicar for Kuwait, and the Metropolitan of the Kollam Diocese, H.G. Mathews Mor Theodocius was the Chief Celebrant. Parish Vicar Rev. Fr. Sajan T. John also spoke on this occasion.
