Kuwait St. George Syrian Orthodox Church Elevated as REESH Church

Recognizing the prominence and activities, H.H. Moran Mor Ignatius Zakka I Iwas with his blessed Apostolic Bull, St. George Universal SOC have been elevated to a Reesh Church (Valiyapalli). On 3rd December the declaration of 37 year old parish to a Reesh Church is being celebrated with all pomp and glory during a tri mass with Catholicos His Beatitude Baselios Thomas I as the chief celebrant and assisted by Diocesan metropolitan and patriarchal vicar H.E. Mor Theodosius Mathews and H.E. Mor Mathews Aphrem. A grand public meeting will be held on the same day evening with well known dignitaries and religious leaders with Reesh Church members celebrating the occasion.

In a historic judgement, The Special Court, Ernakulam granted equal rights for the Jacobite Syrian Orthodox Church in the Cemetery of Kaadeesa Jacobite Syrian Orthodox Church, Kayamkumlam. The Jacobite Church will have equal rights along with the Metran Kakshis who have been objecting to our rights since the last 30 years.

Geevarghese Mor Coorilos is the bishop of the Syrian Orthodox Church of Malankara. Until the Assembly of 2013, he will be the moderator of the Commission for World Mission and Evangelism (CWME) of the World Council of Churches. On the 24th of September 2010, he addressed the members’ assembly of the Netherlands Missionary Council. Mor Coorilos believes that the worldwide environmental crisis is a matter of injustice.

COCHIN: The Kerala High Court division Bench directs to solve the Church feud through mediators and outside courts…. The Jacobite stance of ending century long litigations and finding solution through a out of court settlement has been accepted in principle. This is a major victory for the stand taken by the Jacobite Church.
