Metropolitan of Niranam, Dr. Mor Coorilos Geevarghese addressed the Pre-Assembly forum for people living with HIV and AIDS at Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia yesterday, April 12, 2010. Mor Coorilos gave a theological presentation on Christian Care for People Living with HIV-AIDS. The Pre-Assembly forum was attended by 60 people comprising of bishops, church leaders, theologians, medical professionals, counsellors and people living with HIV and AIDS. Mor Coorilos will also address the Assembly of the Christian Conference of Asia on the 19th. The Assembly will commence on the 14th and will conclude on the 21st. Mor Coorilos is also representing the Jacobite Syrian Orthodox Church at the Assembly and His Grace is also one of the resource persons for the Assembly as well as pre-assembly meetings.

This is to express my deep sense of gratitude to all those who have responded positively to the news of my visit to the St. Paul’s mission fields in Chittoor, A.P. I really appreciate those comments of support and encouragement. I thank them also for their prayers for our work in as many as 14 states of India. I thought I would also share some of my experience in Chittoor. I attended two prayer meetings in the houses of two of our new members. In the humble households (both houses were like tiny huts) I experienced the fullest expression of faith! I was really moved.

His Holiness Patriarch Ignatius Zakka I Iwas consecrated Very Rev. Rabban John Aziz Kawaq as metropolitan by the name Mor Dionysius Yuhanon Kawaq at St. Peter’s & St.Paul’s Cathedral, St. Ephraim’s Patriarchal Monastery here on March 21, Sunday. Mor Dionysius will be the Director of Syriac Orthodox Patriarchate located at Damascus.
